Sensor networks and safety critical embedded systems – challenges and possibilities for industry

The workshop gathers leading developers and researchers to discuss industrial deployment and development of sensor networks and safety critical embedded systems. The workshop is an integrated part of Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) week 2010 which is uniting five international conferences focusing on research and development of embedded systems, hybrid systems, real-time systems and sensor networks.
In conjunction with the workshop there is an industrial exhibition where you will meet representatives for both industry and academia.

When: Monday April 12, 9.00-17.00
Where: Lindstedtsvägen 3, KTH – Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden

The primary aim of the CPS-Week industrial workshop is to present and discuss scientific and technical developments of high-industrial interest. The workshop targets industrial participation, but will be of interest also for researchers interested in industrial requirements and industrial deployment of research results.

The workshop features two central themes of high industrial importance:

  • Industrial Deployment of Sensor Network Technology
  • Industrial Safety-Critical Embedded Systems

Industrial Deployment of Sensor Network Technology
Will consist of a tutorial on IP-based sensor networks by Dr. Adam Dunkels, Swedish Institute of Computer Science, 4 additional presentations by leading industrial experts and researchers and a panel discussion.

Industrial Safety-Critical Embedded Systems
Is organized by the European project PREDATOR ( http://www.predator-project.eu/ ) and features six exciting presentations. The Predictability of the timing behavior is an indispensable system property for time- and safety-critical embedded systems. Traditional system design has put the emphasis on average-case performance, seriously endangering the predictability of the worst-case performance. PREDATOR sets out to reconcile worst-case predictability with average-case performance.

Exhibition
In addition to the workshop, an exhibition will be organized with an industrial focus where both academic and industrial exhibitors will present ideas or products of interest to the CPS community.
