Funding: KKS, Volvo Construction Equipment AB

Overview

The consequences of tiredness, drowsiness, stress and lack of concentration cause by a variety of different factors such as illness, sleep depletion, drugs and alcohol is a serious problem in traffic and when operating industrial equipment. The aim of the project is to develop an intelligent system that can monitor and manage drivers’ level of inattention depending on psychological and behavioral conditions/status using different physiological sensor signals. The system will be developed combining different types of intelligent and signal processing techniques. The research will provide the basis for building a prototype system able to provide continuous monitoring of the parameters while driving and generate suitable information/alarm to alert the driver about their driving performance.
