Bibliographic analysis

Based on data extracted from Google Scholar we have made a bibliographic analysis of the publications produced within PROGRESS and the publications co-authored by the members of the PROGRESS team. The key aspect we have studied is how the number of citations has developed from the time before the start of PROGRESS (pre-progress = end of 2005) to the end of the funding period (post-progress = end of 2011).

In addition to reporting the number of citations over the period, we will use two well-established bibliographic measures in the presentation:

  • h-index – the h-index is for a collection C of articles the largest i such that there are i articles with at least i citations.
  • i10-index – the i10-index is for a collection C of articles the largest i such that there are i articles with at least 10 citations.

Citation of the publications produced within PROGRESS at the end of 2011

Although it is a bit premature to evaluate the impact of the publications produced within PROGRESS already at the end of the funding period, it is interesting to note that quite a number of articles already have reached impressive citation levels.

Obviously the number of pre-progress citations is 0 for these articles. The post-progress measures are for these articles:

  • Total number of publications: 409
  • Total number of citations : 2847
  • Total number of citations : 2847
  • i10-index = 66
